Wader migration has started, come to see the whimbrel

The migration of the waders has started. The first waders that did not succeed in breeding or bringing up their young have start their southbound return to Africa. One of the early birds is this beautiful whimbrel with its characteristic bee-bee-bee call. You can see it all over the Netherlands, although it remains a scarce visitor.
